July 7th 2003 marked the beginning of a new chapter in Stephan Kazemi’s life, assuming full responsibility for pursuing justice for his mother.   
                                     
He acquired experience in international law, human rights and politics. He had to learn to speak Farsi. He had to marshal the financial and legal ressources necessary to hold the Iranian government accountable and to press the Canadian government to stop to coopperate with them and apply true mesures. He had to engage in extensive public speaking tours in Canada, the United States and Europe. He has granted the media countless interviews and done virtually everything in his power to raise awareness about the case and human rights violations in Iran. The ripple effects have touched people, both near and far.

He organized photo exhibitions in Vancouver, Montreal and Paris.  He has made himself and his mother’s work available and accessible to the public at the local level. Throughout, he has insisted on artistic integrity and demanded that the spirit of his mother’s work be honoured.
